When can you go on exchange during your studies?

You can go on exchange during the 1st semester of Master year 2.

An internship abroad is possible during summer between Master year 1 and 2, or during Master year 2.

Conditions to go on exchange

You can go on exchange when you have passed all 1st semester courses of Master year 1. 

How to apply for an exchange?

Nomination EU destination
  1. For study exchange, select your favorite destination from the list below and, ideally, also a back-up destination. For internship/thesis you are not limited to this list. 
  2. Write a motivation letter (max. 1 page in English)
  3. Send your application to your exchange coordinator Karolien Van Puyvelde
  4. Deadline is March 1st
Nomination non-EU destination
  1. Select your top destination from this website and ideally a back-up destination as well. For internship/thesis you are not limited to this list.
  2. Write a motivation letter (max. 1 page in English)
  3. For study exchange, select one back-up EU destination from the list below
  4. Send your application to your exchange coordinator Karolien Van Puyvelde
  5. Deadline is December 12th

Learning agreement

After you have been nominated, you will have to draw up a learning agreement.

In your learning agreement, you propose courses at the host university and you match them with the courses you are replacing at VUB. Make sure to discuss your proposal with your exchange coordinator.
