Stani Manuka earned his masters degree in Engineering: Architecture last year. This year he hopes to add the Master of Management and 'Innovative entrepreneurship for Engineers' to this. As deejay Mukaku he started out on smaller TD's at VUB. After some months he was invited to some larger student events in Brussel, and even abroad. His inspiration is local hip hop, from Old School to Future. As a co-founder and resident at 'High on Hiphop' he invests in local talent in and around Brussels.
Multitude entered the music business six years ago as a producer. Only recently he put his first steps as a deejay. His style is a mix of dance, funk, soul and house. Igor Suys is in his last year of Industrial Engineering.
Why do you participate in the BXL Student DJ Contest?
Multitude: "I discovered the BXL Student DJ Contest through vi.be, an awesome platform for deejays to contact organisers. Brussels does not offer many opportunities to promote new talent. I therefore support the initiative very much! I consider myself a producer rather than a deejay, but since all producers start to deejay in the end, I also did it (smiles)."
Mukaku: "The contest is a fine chance to promote yourself as a deejay. I want to promote my genre to a larger and more diverse audience."
What's the ambition for the final?
Mukaku: "The BXL Student DJ Contest is my first competition ever. I want to do my thing for 45 minutes and introduce my style to the public. If they have a good time, I consider the job done. Of course, I would like to leave a permanent impression. Victory would be the ideal scenario (smiles)."
Multitude: "My aim is to share my music and meet new people. That's it basically."
What do you want to achieve as a deejay?
Multitude: "My ultimate goal is to perform an entirely live gig. But I first need to release more music. Keep an eye on my page: interesting stuff is coming."
Mukaku: "I hope to develop my potential and reach larger and more diverse locations and audiences in this way. At the end I want to share my knowledge and experience with others."
