Professor Wylleman was hosted by Professor Chris Harwood, Loughborough University Beacon lead for Sport and Exercise, as part of the University’s Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) ‘Motion’ theme. During his visit, Professor Wylleman shared his insights into how young athletes develop and transition through adolescence, their adult sport careers, and manage retirement from their athletic career. He presented to the Sports Performance theme in Loughborough University’s School of Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences, and the performance support staff and coaches within its Sports Development Centre. He also took part in a PhD and Early Career Researcher workshop and panel discussion, Examining the interfaces between research, practice, teaching and management in elite sport on Friday 1 March.
 
Talking about the visit, Professor Wylleman said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to Loughborough University, with its reputation for excellence in sport and exercise, by Professor Harwood and the IAS. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my insights on athlete development over the career and I look forward to developing further research collaborations with the University’s internationally leading academics and practitioners”.
