Since the 1st of September 2018 an official ‘Attest Bedrijfsbeheer’ is no longer needed to start up a company in Flanders. That does not mean that a thorough elementary knowledge in entrepreneurship and business management is not required anymore. At VUB already more than 20 years seminars are organized destined to students and researchers with a non-economic background. This has been very fruitful. Several successful VUB-entrepreneurs who have followed the courses, are now eager to testify about their passion. Not only the advantages of starting up a company are highlighted, also the pitfalls are dealt with.

For beginners and advanced

The seminars offer a short but intensive introduction in entrepreneurship. During the ‘Starter Seminars’ basic aspects such as elaborating a strategy, marketing issues and innovative financing models are discussed. The ‘Advanced Starter Seminars’ offer a follow-up trajectory and treat among others the writing of a business plan and negotiating with venture capitalists more in-depth. Experts from VUB and the corporate world will share their knowledge and expertise with you and you are offered the opportunity to present your own project.

To start or not to start?

The seminars are ideal for entrepreneurial students and researchers who want to start their own company. Even if you do not have concrete plans yet, they are recommended. You will gain valuable insights in entrepreneurship and management that will also be useful during your research or career. After participation you will receive a certificate that looks nice on your CV. As student or personnel of VUB, EhB or ULB you also receive an interesting discount.

Still hesitating?
During the Launch Event on Tuesday evening the 2nd of October in U-Residence everyone is welcome to join in and hear more about the seminar program and content as well as listen to the experiences of some succesful VUB-entrepreneurs. During a drink afterwards you can meet your future colleague-entrepreneurs.

Where and when?
Both courses take place on a Tuesday or Thursday evening during the 1st semester of the academic year 2018-2019. Place to be is the Brussels Humanities, Engineering and Sciences Campus in Etterbeek, but this year also live streaming at the Health Campus in Jette is organized.
